“Murder’s in the Heir,” Wilkes Playmakers’ audience interactive murder mystery-comedy, starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Benton Hall Community Arts Center in North Wilkesboro; tickets $12 adults or $10 for students and seniors; recurs Oct. 11 and Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 13 at 2 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 11

34th Hickory Oktoberfest starts at 5 p.m. in downtown Hickory and continues Oct. 12 and Oct. 13; live music, arts & crafts, food vendors, kids’ activities.

Hillside Horror, a haunted farm and corn maze, continues on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. at 2122 Hoots Rd., Roaring River; $20 until Oct. 26.

Allman Brothers tribute music from 8-10 p.m. by the Reeves Theater House Band; tickets $15-$25.

Saturday, Oct. 12

“Making Sense of the Civil War,” fourth of a five-part reading and discussion series led by Judkin Browning, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Wilkes Public Library; free; concludes Oct. 26.

Barn Quilts Workshop (Brooklyn Mounce) from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Wilkes Art Gallery; $80.

Three Paintbrushes and a Canvas (Connie Ledford) runs from 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. at Key City Antiques in North Wilkesboro ($30 for 16x20 canvas; pre-pay at 336-990-0711).

Wilkesboro Concerts in the Commons from 6-10 p.m. with “The Wildflowers – A Tribute to Tom Petty” at 6 p.m., and “On the Border – The Ultimate Eagles Tribute” at 8 p.m.; free; food trucks, vendors, kids’ activities.

Garrett Newton Band plays at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre in North Wilkesboro; with the Malpass Brothers.
