The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office is investigating a variety of recent crimes.

The theft of two electric drills, a circular saw and a chainsaw worth about $500 from the home of Dennis Dwight Howard on Thurmond Road was reported on Jan. 23.

Shirley Jean Gillispie of Layell Road, Elkin, reported on Jan. 25 that a dune buggy chassis worth $1,000 was stolen from her residence.

Amanda Lambert reported on Jan. 25 that a necklace-earring combo set worth $50 was stolen from her mailbox.

Lisa Anderson Gentry of Lake Hills, Wilkesboro reported the theft of a .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol worth $300 on Jan. 24.

John Allen Nichols reported on Jan. 24 that a 1990 Toyota pickup worth about $1,500 was stolen from his property on Triple R Road in Wilkesboro.
