A Millers Creek woman reported to the North Wilkesboro Police Department that $10,000 in cash was stolen from her car while she was inside Walgreens on D Street about three weeks ago.

Nancy Miller, in her 80s, said she left the money in her pocketbook and locked the doors of her car but found the doors unlocked when she returned. Miller said she had the money with her because she was planning to go to a funeral home that day and pay for her funeral expenses.

Miller said she had no idea who might have taken the money.

North Wilkesboro Interim Police Chief Rob Thornburg said his department is investigating.
