The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office recently arrested man on 11 counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and other felony charges related to thefts.
Daniel Hayes Billings, 30, was arrested Sept. 9 on the firearms charges. Warrants charging Billings state that he possessed a 16-gauge automatic shotgun, a .22-caliber pistol, two AR-15 rifles and seven .22-caliber rifles on June 26 while being a convicted felon. The warrants say he was convicted of felonious larceny in January 2013.
Additional warrants charge Billings with:
• Breaking and entering, larceny and safecracking for an incident at the property of Guy Reid on Boone Trail, Millers Creek, in June in which a gun safe, firearms, Case knives, vehicle parts, computers, power tools, jewelry and an engine block worth $92,000 and $30,000 in cash were stolen;
• Larceny of motor vehicle parts for the theft of a catalytic converter and a set of wheels and tires belonging to Todd Jordan on Elk Creek/Darby Road in Ferguson between Aug. 5 and 6. He is also charged with possessing on those same dates a 2007 Polaris Ranger 500, Honda CRF 250 wheels with tires and a winch which belonged to Jordan and were stolen;
• Conspiring with three other men to commit the larceny on Elk Creek/Darby Road in Ferguson;
• Receiving stolen goods, which included a wood chipper, hydraulic pole saw, chainsaw and climbing gear worth $50,000 belonging to Townsend Tree Service on June 28.
