The Tar Heel League crowned three District 2 softball champions last week, and the baseball district tournaments will be taking place this week all over northwest North Carolina.

But before joining their respective teams as Wilkes County all-stars, all of those players spent the previous two-and a-half months playing one another with hopes of winning their respective Wilkes County Parks and Recreation championships.

Here’s a look back at who were crowned champions in the seven divisions in which Wilkes County fields teams.

Girls Coach Pitch

The Eastern Star Lady Pirates and Shumate’s Cleaning Lady Rockies shared the five-team coach pitch softball championship with 7-1 records.

The Chick-fil-A Lady Rockies (3-5), Wilkes Communications Lady Cardinals (2-6) and North Wilkesboro Kiwanis Club Lady Rockies (1-7) rounded out the division.

Just three games separated the top four teams in the Little League’s eight-team field but the Wilkesboro Masonic Lodge #45 White Sox won the league with a 7-0 record.
