The Wilkes County National and Wilkes County American all-star teams advanced to the finals of the District 2 tournament on Friday at Ashe County. Wilkes American advanced by besting Wilkes National 11-5 in the winner’s bracket finals.

Wilkes National rebounded to defeat Yancey County 6-4 in the loser’s bracket final.

The two teams squared off in the finals on Monday night at Memorial Park and Wilkes National took the first game 6-0 thanks to a masterful performance on defense to set up a winner-take-all championship. Wilkes American bounced back from its first loss to capture a 13-5 win in the nightcap.
