Four swimmers from West Wilkes High School — Ethan Hurley, Anthony Mackler, Samuel Lewczyk and Isaiah Lewczyk — achieved all-league status after finishing second in events on Jan. 23 at the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Athletic Conference championships.

Hurley and Samuel Lewczyk also earned honorable mentions for other events.

Jacob Chapman, Oliver Higgins, Kendall Redies, David Olson and Sawyer Johnson of Wilkes Central were also named honorable mention.

East Wilkes’ Sedessa Hatcher and Alana Bauguess also achieved all-MVAC honors for their performances. Kristen Church and Hannah Hartzog of West Wilkes and Wilkes Central’s Brianna Ormanzano also made the all-league squad.

Honorable mentions were handed to Ormanzano and Mariella Millan of Wilkes Central. League swimmers of the year were Morgan Wiles and Jack Zamudio of Elkin.

Coach of the year was Elkin’s Oz Prim, who orchestrated both team titles for the school.
