Wilkes Central High School announced Monday that its next three volleyball games have been postponed for undisclosed reasons related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Wilkes Central Athletic Director Chuck Cannon released the following statement on Monday: “Wilkes Central High School has postponed its next three volleyball matches due to health concerns and as safety precautions during COVID-19. Matches on 12/1, 12/3 and 12/8 as well as the match from 11/25 will be rescheduled. A revised schedule will be posted on the school’s webpage as soon as dates are determined.”

Tuesday’s game would have been against Alleghany at home.

The game Thursday was at Starmount and the Eagles were to host East Wilkes on Dec. 8.

The first match to be postponed was the Nov. 25 matchup at Ashe County.

They are the first COVID-19-related postponements of high school athletic events in Wilkes County since the volleyball and cross country seasons started on Nov. 16.
