After the conclusion of Tuesday’s action, all three Wilkes County softball teams have advanced to the championship game of their respective District 2 tournaments in Tar Heel League action.
The 8-and-under all-stars advanced to its championship game after defeating Ashe County (16-0) and Watauga (17-5) on Tuesday night.
Wilkes County will play in the championship game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Industrial Field in Boone. They’ll face the winner of Wednesday evening’s Watauga/Ashe County game.
Wilkes County breezed past Hickory 12-0 in the opener on Tuesday evening and defeated Watauga later in the evening. Both games were played at Watauga High School.
Wilkes County, which secured a spot in the Tar Heel League state tournament with the two wins, will go for a district championship tonight at 7:30 against the winner of the Hickory/Watauga game (which will take place today at 5:30).
Wilkes County advanced to its District 2 championship game with a 4-0 win against Hickory on Tuesday night at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium on the campus of Appalachian State University.
On Monday evening, Wilkes County defeated Watauga 12-0.
Wilkes County will now have a chance to win the district title and advance to the state tournament on Thursday night at Industrial Field in Boone.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 against the winner of the Hickory/Ashe County game. That game is tonight at 7:30 at Watauga High School.
