The undefeated West Wilkes baseball team will host Fred T. Foard in the first round of the 2A state baseball playoffs Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Millers Creek.

The 14-0 Blackhawks are the only unbeaten team among the 16 squads in the 2A West Region. They received a randomly-generated #5 seed.

West wrapped up a fourth-straight Mountain Valley 1A/2A Athletic Conference title Friday with a 14-2 win over Ashe County on Thursday.

Foard received a #12 seed. The Tigers are 12-2 and finished second in the Northwestern Foothills Conference. They're coming off a 6-0 loss to Bunker Hill on Thursday that decided the NFC title.

The winner will face the victor of the Forbush (9-5, #13 seed) at Bunker Hill (13-1, #4 seed) game on Thursday at the home of the lower-seeded team.

West and Foard have not faced one another since at least 2007. Since losing in the third round of the 2A playoffs in 2019, the Blackhawks have won 15 straight games.
