The West Wilkes Blackhawks kept their playoff push on track with a 4-3 win over the RS Central Hilltoppers Friday evening in Millers Creek.

Senior Lauren Anderson was a star from both sides of the plate, scoring what would be the winning run with a solo home run in the fourth inning while also recording the complete game victory from the circle. Anderson was efficient on the night, recording five strikeouts and scattering four hits in a complete game and 103 pitches.

Anderson was perfect through 2 1/3 innings, before giving up a hit on a questionable safe call at first base.

The Hilltoppers, who were led by Katie Hunt’s two hits, finally got on the board in the fourth thanks to an RBI double that cut the lead to 3-2, setting up Anderson’s game winning solo shot in the bottom half of the inning.

The Blackhawks moved their winning streak to 11 games and brought their overall record to 21-4 on the season. Stanley and Anderson paced the host with two hits apiece.

West Wilkes will next face the West bracket’s the No. 1 seed West Stanly Colts on Tuesday in Oakboro. The Colts are 22-0 this season and are the second-ranked softball team in the state across all classifications, according to MaxPreps.
