Playing their second game in as many nights, the Trojans eschewed flash and settled for workmanlike efficiency to win their 20th game of the season Tuesday night in Ronda.
MacKenzie Russell hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored all of her game-high 10 points in the first half. Haley Rife also had a 3-pointer as the Trojans opened the game with a 14-2 run and led 23-2 at halftime.
Alleghany held the Cardinals scoreless in the first and fourth quarters.
The Trojans’ 48-36 win over Wilkes Central in Sparta Monday night pulled them into a first-place tie with the Eagles and West Wilkes. West Wilkes fell out of first place with a 54-51 home loss to North Wilkes Tuesday.
Alleghany plays at West Wilkes Friday.
Abigail Keesling added seven points for the Trojans and Taylor Allen had six.
