Jaden Wentz

WEST WILKES’ Jaden Wentz slides safely into third base during a game against Mount Airy earlier this season. Dalton Nance awaits the throw for the Granite Bears.

Editor’s note: Due to the COVID-19 concerns cancelling the majority of the high school sports spring seasons, the Wilkes Journal-Patriot reached out to coaches and athletic directors to have their senior spring sports athletes to fill out this form. We’ll be recognizing spring sports seniors throughout the remainder of the school year and the summer.

Name: Jaden Wentz

School: West Wilkes High School

Sports Played: Football, basketball and baseball

Future plans: Committed to play basketball at Warren Wilson College

Greatest high school accomplishment: Winning a conference title in both basketball and baseball.

Favorite moment playing high school sports, and why: My favorite moment was the basketball conference tournament championships against Elkin this year because it was a great atmosphere to play in and our hard work paid off.

What advice would you give to future athletes coming up in high school sports: Never take a play off, you never know what the extra rep could do for you.

Note: If any senior student-athlete would like to be recognized, email us at wjpsports@wilkes.net or zachc@wilkes.net and we’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out.
