The Northwest North Carolina Fall Baseball League, a nonprofit organization, is currently looking for players ages 4-to-10 interested in playing ball this fall.
The season will begin in September and run through November with games being played at Memorial Park and River’s Edge.
There will be three age groups, based on player ages as of Aug. 31, 2019. Players in all three divisions will be placed on a team regardless of ability.
Deadline to register is Aug. 23 and workouts for Rookie League and Coach Pitch will take place on Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. Both workouts will take place at Memorial Park.
Below is a breakdown of the three leagues:
Advanced Step Up Tee-Ball
This age group is designed for players 4 and 5 year olds and playing age.
While batting, players will have the option to receive three pitches delivered by his/her coach; should a player not bat one of those three balls into play, then a baseball tee would be placed at the plate to bat the ball into play.
There is no requirement that the player bat coached-pitched balls and the player may choose to hit directly off the tee, if desired. According to Brandon York, who will oversee the league, this allows an easy transition for all players working on the stress and fear of moving from tee-ball straight into a coach pitch league.
All defensive players would play a defensive position in the field. Batters would continue to run the bases until the appropriate “time” is called. The roster would bat continuously each inning but bases would be cleared after three outs.
The Advanced Step Up League is a fun, developmental program to teach players how to play the game in a fun environment. Games consist of a one hour and 15-minute time limit. There is no official score for these games and no umpires.
This league is a competitive and instructional league for players 6 and 7 years old.
