Ninja Gym to celebrate first anniversary

Warrior 7 Wellness, Yadkin County’s only Ninja Warrior Gym, will be celebrating its one-year anniversary on Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m.-to-1 a.m. at 2851 Rocky Branch Road in Hamptonville.

For just $3, everyone can take advantage of unlimited play on its ninja warrior obstacles — many of them found on the hit show American Ninja Warrior.

There will also be free hot dogs and bottled water, beginning at 10 a.m. and going until supplies last. There will be giveaways every hour from 9 a.m.-to-Noon and group fitness class demos at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.

In addition to learning about their new self-defense classes, which start on July 23, there will also be an information and registration session for their after-school program, taking place at 12:30 p.m.

North Wilkes Football Camp

North Wilkes will conduct its football camp for rising 3rd-through-8th graders on July 22-23 from 6-to-8:30 p.m. at the North Wilkes High School football practice field.

Cost of the camp is $30 and includes T-shirt.

Prospective campers register the night of the camp or send registration to Monty Chipman at North Wilkes High School.

Girls’ Volleyball Clinic

West Wilkes Head Volleyball Coach Steve Bryan will be holding a clinic for rising 3rd-through-8th grade girls with a focus on the fundamentals.

The clinic will take place on July 22 and 23 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the new and old West Wilkes High School gyms.

Cost of the camp is $50 and includes a free t-shirt. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. in the new gym on the 22nd.

Information sheets are available at Millers Creek Elementary and West Wilkes Middle schools.

Surry Community College Volleyball Camp

The Surry Community College volleyball team will be holding its annual volleyball camp on July 22-25 at the Surry Community College gym in Dobson.  

The clinic will include two separate sessions. The first session will be from 9 a.m.-until-Noon for individuals ages 6-to-11 who have less than one year of experience. The second session, from 1-to-4 p.m.  will be for individuals who are 12 years and in middle school with more than one year of experience.  

The camp is open to ages 6-16 and costs of $50 per person and includes a camp T-shirt. Each camper is asked to bring a refillable water bottle and a snack each day. Campers will be learning proper technique in the areas of hitting, passing, setting, serving and blocking from Surry Head Coach Jan Marion-Kiser and members of the Knights volleyball program.

Interested campers may register for the camp by completing a camp brochure at www.surryknights.com. Camp registrations will also begin at 8:30 a.m. (first session) and 12:30 pm (second session).

East Wilkes Tennis Clinics

East Wilkes High School will be offering tennis clinics for rising kindergarten-through-12th grade students on Tuesdays and Thursdays going until July 25 at the East Wilkes High School tennis courts.

The cost for each clinic is $5 and no pre-registration is required.  

The clinic for rising kindergarteners-through-3rd graders will be from 8:15-to-9 a.m., and will focus on fundamental skill development along with games to advance skill and love for the game. Clinics for high school students will be from 9-to-10 a.m. and the clinic for rising 4th-through-9th graders will be from 10-to-11 a.m. There will be no clinic the week of July 4 (July 2 and July 4) or the week of July 16 (July 16 and July 18).

All clinics will be led by Head Coach Aaron Simmons along with former and current players from the East Wilkes tennis program.
