Laura Foster, a former player at West Wilkes High School and coach at Ashe County and Wilkes Central high schools, recorded her 300th career coaching victory on Feb. 17.

Foster, the T.C. Roberson girls coach in Asheville, reached the milestone after her team’s victory at West Henderson.

She reflected on her milestone, while thanking those who took part along during the process.

“I’ve been doing it awhile,” Foster told TV station WLOS. “It feels good. I’ve had a lot of good support and a lot of good players along the way.”

The Rams finished 8-6 this year, good for fourth place overall in the Western Mountain Athletic 3A Conference.

Foster has helmed the program since the 2017-18 season.

Prior, Foster coached at Ashe for 17 seasons and went 271-156, qualifying for the state playoffs 15 times. Before joining the Huskies, Foster was the head JV coach and assistant varsity coach at Wilkes Central for six years.
