For the first week this fall, not all four Wilkes County high school football teams will be in action tonight as West Wilkes will have its open week.

But East Wilkes, North Wilkes and Wilkes Central will be in action for their final nonconference games.

The Cardinals will look to rebound from their loss to Forbush when it hosts Winston-Salem Prep. It will be the first time that East Wilkes has ever faced the Phoenix on the gridiron.

North Wilkes will travel to Avery County and face the Vikings for the first time after a two-year hiatus. Wilkes Central will also travel to the high country when it faces Watauga.

Kickoff for all three games is set for 7:30. The East Wilkes-Winston-Salem Prep game can also be heard of 3WC radio, starting at 6:45 p.m.

This chart presents a quick breakdown of each of the three matchups — highlighting the last time the two teams played, key players, and a quote from the head coaches.
