Singles action saw top-seeded Sylvia Prevette defeating Mary Beth Burgiss 6-0, 6-0; #2 Tristen Blevins d. Kassidy Loggins 6-0, 6-0; #3 Brianna Martin d. Karlie Keepfer 6-1, 6-1; #4 Jordan Schubart d. Cindy Lopez 6-1, 6-0; #5 Kristie Brown d. Macey Whitaker 6-0, 6-1; and #6 Hallie Younger d. Bianca Guerrero 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, #1 Prevette/Martin d. Burgiss/Whitaker 8-1; #2 Schubart/Younger d. Loggins/Lopez 8-1; and #3 Brown/Kaleigh Couch d. Keepfer/Guerrero 8-0.

Ashe sweeps Central

Ashe County blanked Wilkes Central 9-0 in West Jefferson on Thursday.

The Huskies improved to 2-0 while the Eagles’ record evened at 1-1.

Elkin edges North

Elkin edged visiting North Wilkes on Thursday, 5-4.

Starmount defeated West Wilkes in Boonville on Thursday, 6-3.

The Cardinals bettered to 3-0 overall, while the Rams fell to 0-2.
