Cheyenne Clonch

Cheyenne Clonch of West Wilkes High School received the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s Performance of the Week Award for the week ending Nov. 18, the NCHSAA announced Tuesday.

Clonch, a senior hitter on West’s varsity volleyball team, was the week two recipient, along with Cary cross country runner Viktor Idhammar.

The Lenoir-Rhyne University signee recorded her 1,000th career kill at Starmount on Nov. 25, one of her 18 kills in the contest. Also during the noteworthy week, she racked up 22 kills in a key 3-1 victory over Alleghany on Nov. 23.

Clonch was nominated for the weekly award by her coach, Steve Bryan. She is the back-to-back player of the year in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Athletic Conference.
