EDITOR'S NOTE: The West Wilkes softball game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 4, at 6 p.m., due to wet field conditions.

The undefeated Wilkes Central soccer and West Wilkes softball teams will host 2A first-round state playoff games today (Monday).

The second-seeded Eagles will host the 15th seed, Pisgah, at 6 p.m. at Lowe’s Park at River’s Edge in Wilkesboro.

The fourth-seeded Blackhawks will host Burns, the 13th seed, at 6 p.m. on the school’s softball field in Millers Creek.

Central is 14-0 overall and 13-0 in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A Athletic Conference. Pisgah, out of Canton, is 9-2 overall and finished 8-2 in the Mountain 6 2A Conference. The Bears have won two straight matches.

Central and Pisgah have not faced one another since at least 2010.

West finished 14-0 in the MVAC and Burns, based in Lawndale, compiled an 8-4 record in the Southwestern 2A Conference. The Bulldogs have dropped two straight games.

West and Burns have not squared off since at least 2007.
