The North Wilkesboro Police Department charged an 18-year-old with felony flee to elude arrest; failure to heed lights and siren; careless and wreckless driving to endanger the motoring public; and other offenses after a motor vehicle chase on Friday.

Sebastian Kane Elledge of Moravian Falls was also charged with larceny of motor fuel, speeding 65 mph in 35 mph, two stop sign violations, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Capt. Brad Mathis of the North Wilkesboro PODepartment. Sebastian was placed in the Wilkes County Jail under a $2,000.00 secure.

Mathis said that at about 1:15 pm Friday, officers were dispatched to the area of D Street to be on the lookout for a gray Ford F-250 pickup that had been involved in the larceny of gasoline from Four Brothers on D Street.

He said a dispatcher advised that the subject was traveling at a high rate of speed and had been driving careless in the West Park while a Four Brothers employee was following the vehicle.

Sgt. Michael Sampson observed the suspect vehicle turn from D Street onto Independence Avenue. The suspect vehicle sped out Independence to Main Street and Sampson activated his lights and siren and began pursuit.

Mathis said the suspect turned right onto the CBD Loop, right onto Wilkesboro Boulevard, left onto Cherry Street, left onto Chestnut Street, right onto Main Street and stopped near River Road after coming upon heavy traffic. He was arrested without further incident.

Toads wrecker service was called to seize the vehicle under the NC “Run and Done” Statute.

A larceny report was also done. Mathis said the suspect pumped $101 worth of gasoline from Four Brothers and left without paying for the fuel.
