Wilkes County Relay for Life, among the most important annual public events in Wilkes County, is this Friday at the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club’s Worth Tomlinson Park near West Park.

Opening ceremonies are at 6 p.m., luminaries purchased in honor or in memory of others will be lit at dusk and the survivor’s/caretaker’s walk is after the ceremony. Luminaries are $10 each and can be purchased until 8:30 p.m. Friday at Relay for Life. To buy one before then, email Karen Bumgarner at kbum61@wilkes.net.

Relay for Life is important because it provides a structured opportunity for people to unite in raising money for medical research that continues to make amazing progress in battling cancer and bring us closer to a cure. It’s also important because it brings the public together to show support for people fighting cancer and let them know they’re not in this fight alone. Relay for Life is a celebration of victories over cancer and a way of honoring and remembering those lost to the disease.

Participating in Relay for Life this Friday evening is a great opportunity to enrich your own life and the lives of others.
