Do officers have to be vaccinated?

I think the citizens of Wilkes County deserve to be informed about whether members of the sheriff’s office and both police departments are required to be vaccinated. I believe those of us who are vaccinated should be informed as soon as possible.

This should be an easy enough task for those who are in charge to answer. As citizens, we deserve to be informed about this subject. I believe as sworn public servants it should be required, and if it’s not, then they should not be in our space, with or without masks.

I know for sure of one deputy who is not vaccinated and so that probably just answered my question. This should not be allowed to go on for those of us who believe in science and don’t need a germ carrying officer in our space.
