I have to take exception to the letter printed in the June 10 issue of the Wilkes Journal-Patriot (“Move ahead in unity as nation”) from Kathryn Charles, chairman of the Wilkes County Democratic Party. Although well written, it is full of inaccuracies.

To say that we have an epidemic of systemic racism is laughable. This nation had been on the leading edge of race relations until we had eight years of the great divider, President Obama.

The Democratic Party’s platform has become three major issues: support for abortion at any time, up to and including birth; gun control; and hate President Trump.

For the last three years, Democrats have done nothing but attempt to unsuccessfully unseat a legitimately elected president. They have no achievements to run on in November.

Maybe at this point, they should suggest to the Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA rioters that they should spare some buildings and police vehicles so they have some to burn in November when President Trump gets re-elected. Join them. I think not.

DAVE WOLFE,
