William David Sebastian, better known as “Bill,” 79, of Hays passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021.
A Celebration of Life Service was held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Joel Blevins officiating. Burial with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard was in Mountlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Bill was born July 30, 1941, in Wilkes County to Lorenzo Alfonzo and Edwina Johnson Sebastian. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He loved airplanes and his friends at the airport and visited them everyday. He was a loving and kind husband, father and grandfather. A jack of all trades.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Blalock.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Ann Blackburn Sebastian of the home. They were lifelong buddies and met in elementary school in the seventh grade. He is also survived by three daughters, Kristal Absher and husband, Ronnie, of Hays, Michelle Wood and husband, Scott, of Roaring River and Jennifer Eller and husband, Ricky, of North Wilkesboro; four grandchildren, Brodie Absher, Dillon Wood, Bayle Wood and Sebastian Eller; and one sister, Peggy Church of Wilkesboro; and his four-legged friend, Buford.
