Verneice Billings Edmisten, 95, of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born Jan. 10, 1925, in Wilkes County, Verneice was the daughter of James and Pearlie Walker Billings.
She was a member of Word Truth Ministries. Verneice worked many years for Ken Williams at Williams Produce Supermarket. Verneice was outspoken and loved by all her family and friends. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Edmisten; a son, Charles Douglas King; a sister, Verdie Billings; and three brothers, Wade Billings, Dwight Billings and Arnold Billings.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Foster and husband, James, and Adele Triplett and husband, Bruce; a son, Ellis King Jr. and wife, Pat; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
A celebration of Verneice’s life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir, with Pastor Bill Bentley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
