Thomas Warren Bumgarner, 74, of Wilkesboro passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, in West Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at Union Baptist Church in Hamptonville, with the Rev. Kenny Pardue and Reggie Johnson officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the National Guard, will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Bumgarner was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Wilkes County to Warren Stephen Bumgarner and Vera Thelma Eller Bumgarner. He was an automobile dealer. Mr. Bumgarner was a member of Union Baptist Church in Hamptonville. Tom loved to sing, ride four-wheelers, camp, explore, ski and loved being outdoors and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Bumgarner is survived by his wife, Karen Mathis Bumgarner of the home; his mother-in-law, Patty Mathis of North Wilkesboro; his sister-in-law, LuAnn Johnson and husband, Reggie, of North Wilkesboro; two beloved nieces, Breanne Hinson and husband, Steve, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Grace Johnson of North Wilkesboro; and several cousins.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
