Shirley Marie Blackburn, 91, of North Wilkesboro, passed away at her home on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021.
Shirley was born on Nov. 9, 1929, in Iberia Parish, Louisiana to Loadice Joseph Provost and Aline Marie Dody Provost.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Shirley loved to work in her yard. She also loved reading books, cooking, sewing and bowling.
Shirley liked listening to music and looking at different types of art.
She really enjoyed doll making and making doll houses.
Everyone loved Shirley; she enjoyed listening to people’s stories of life and talking about her travels and her life.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; father of her children, Howard Wilborn Blackburn Sr.; brothers, Fredrick Provost, Willie Provost, Joseph Provost, Fred Provost Loadice Provost Jr. and sister, Shelia Pollock.
Shirley is survived by daughters, Mary Blevins of Wilkesboro, Rosana Byer of Johnson City, Tenn.; sons, Howard Blackburn Jr. of Pikeville, Ky., Fredrick Blackburn of Boone; brother, Edward Provost; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Family will conduct a service at a later date.
