Samuel "S.D." Eller Jr.

Samuel “S.D.” Eller Jr., 84, of Ferguson passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Center Baptist Church with Rev. David Key and Rev. Vernon Eller officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Eller was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Iredell County to Samuel Dixon Eller Sr. and Golda Harris Eller. He was a member of Center Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Eller worked at Lowes Foods for 23 years and was manager at the Midtown Plaza Store. After retiring from Lowes Foods, he owned and operated Eller’s store in Ferguson for 39 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Patsy Faw and Shirlee Steele.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Bumgarner Eller of the home; a daughter, Andrea Jo Welborn and husband, Jerry, of Ronda; a son, Bobby Steven Eller of Ferguson; two grandchildren, Jerry Dean Welborn Jr., Samantha Jo Welborn; a sister, Linda Trivette and husband, Roger, of Wilkesboro; a sister-in-law; Mary Bumgarner of North Wilkesboro and several nieces and nephews
