Rozel Margaret Church Richardson

Rozel Margaret Church Richardson, 86, of North Wilkesboro, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at her home. Rozel was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Wilkes County to Finley Jacob and Annie Maie McGee Church. She was a member of Millers Creek Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher and over the years was involved with Multiple Outreach Ministries. Rozel retired from First Union Nation Bank as vice president of data processing. Prior to this she was employed by Northwestern Bank and served as VP in operations and data entry. She worked in banking for over 30 years. Rozel was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family, her Sunday school class, her church, and the Lord. She was an avid basketball player and a fan of college basketball and NFL Football. She loved the YMCA and was involved there for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gurney Richardson; four brothers, Hansford T. Church, Glenn Church, Clatye Church, Wayne Church; one sister, Marie Church Nichols Collins; and step-son, Gary Richardson.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Mathis Church and spouse, Tim R. Church, of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Mason Church of North Wilkesboro, Brooke Church of Wilkesboro, and Landon Church of Wilkesboro; step-granddaughter, Kelly Richardson of Michigan; brother, Don Church of North Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Millers Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Shannon Critcher and Rev. Jim Gore. Burial will be at the cemetery of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Wilkesboro immediately following the service.
