ROY TRIPLETTE

Roy Triplette

of Millers Creek

dies at his home

Roy Clay Triplette, 92, of Millers Creek passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at his home.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2020, at Millers Creek Baptist Church, with Pastor Shannon Critcher and Pastor Jim Gore officiating. Burial will be at Mountlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Triplette may be viewed at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home on Thursday, May 14, 2020, from noon until 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Mr. Triplette was born June 15, 1927, in Wilkes County to Mathie and Vera Triplette. Roy owned and operated his own sawmill and lumber company. He learned to saw at an early age, mostly self-taught, and continued to work until just recently. Roy never retired because he considered sawing for his locust customers an honor and beloved pastime. He was well-known in Wilkes and surrounding counties as a gentle, honest man who sawed some of the best locust lumber around. Roy also was a poultry and beef farmer for many years. If you couldn’t find him at the sawmill, then you would find him in the garden that he planted yearly. His family and friends graciously benefited from his labor of love. Roy was the happiest when he was outdoors working to provide for the family he loved so dearly. This locust saw-miller will be missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Nell Blankenship, Coleen Triplette and Martha Marley; and seven brothers, A.D. Triplette, Elmer Triplette, Van Triplette, Carl “Buster” Triplette, Joel Triplette, Walter Gene Triplette and Lloyd Triplette.

Mr. Triplette is survived by his wife, Reba Hamby Triplette of the home; five daughters, Joan Church and husband, Terry, of Wilkesboro, Phyllis Pegram and husband, Roy, of Statesville, Pam Stanley and husband, Ralph, of Lewisville, Cynthia Staley and husband, Mike, of Millers Creek and Donna Eads and husband, Larry, of Wilkesboro; two sons, Harold Triplette and wife, Donna, of North Wilkesboro and Daryl Triplette and wife, Crissy, of Wilkesboro; 14 grandchildren, Joel Church, Jacob Church, Wesley Triplette, Lincoln Triplette, Brandon Pegram, Derek Pegram, Dustin Stanley, Daniel Stanley, Devin Staley, Lauren Staley, Emily Reynolds, Sallie Reynolds, Grey Triplette and Rett Triplette, and 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Boyd Triplette of Lenoir.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Millers Creek Baptist Church, P.O. Box 559, Millers Creek, N.C. 28651.
