Ronald Darrell “Ronnie” Hamby, 62, of Deep Gap passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born Aug. 24, 1957, in Wilkes County to Sherman Garfield and Gladys Hicks Hamby.
Mr. Hamby was a member of the Baptist denomination and enjoyed cattle farming and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Ryan Hamby; and a brother, Donald Hamby.
Surviving are his wife, Claudine Billings Hamby; his daughters, Felicia Griffin and spouse, Rodney, of Wilkesboro, Jessica Brown and spouse, Robbie, of Millers Creek and Melissa Kay Lewis of Caldwell County; his sons, Brad Samuel Hamby of Caldwell County and Ronnie Andrew Hamby of Florida; his brothers, Calvin Hamby and spouse, Loretta, of Purlear, Robert Hamby and spouse, Norma, of Burke County and Greg Hamby of Greensboro; his sisters, Sharon Duncan and spouse, Jake, of Sawmills, Carolyn Hamby of Crumpler and Nancy Walters and spouse, Donnie, of North Wilkesboro; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at Mountain View Cemetery in Deep Gap. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 2 until 3 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted.
