Robert Kenneth Haskett

Robert Kenneth Haskett of Wilkesboro, died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021. He was 80 and is now reunited with Susan V. Haskett. Robert was born in Freeport, Nassau County, N.Y., on Nov. 24, 1940. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Anna May Haskett of Emmaus, Penn. He served the United States Postal service as postmaster general for 30 years on Long Island, N.Y. After retirement he moved to N.C., where he continued to pursue his love of drag and alcohol racing. Unfortunately, a short illness with COVID led to his untimely passing. Robert earned and was inducted into the NHRA East Coast Drag Racing Hall of Fame in November 2021 for over 59 years of racing. He raced for the Lord and was a Christian who enjoyed sharing his beliefs with many. He had a strong personality but had a smile that could light up your day.
