Rev. Thomas “Tommy” Lee Prevette, 69, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1952, in Wilkes County to Dewey and Hope Jones Prevette. Rev. Prevette was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Morningstar Fellowship Church. He loved his family and spending time with them, reading and studying his Bible. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, checkers, playing the guitar, mowing his yard and going to antique car shows. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve Prevette.
Surviving is his wife, Brenda Pierce Prevette of North Wilkesboro; stepdaughters, Stephanie Workman (Chadd) of Texas, Sabrina Martin (Morgan) of Glade Valley, Melody Stone (Samuel) of Missouri; step-son, Jason Ashley (Teresa) of Asheboro; step-daughter, Heather Elder (Tony) of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Kaytlin Garcia, Ashlyn Miller (Ricky), AJ Ashley (KC), Tanner Elder, CJ Workman, Brendan McLain, Isaiah Stone; six great-grandchildren; brother, Doug Prevette (Patricia) of Lenoir; sister-in-law, Jenny Prevette of Rock Creek; Aunt Betty Ann Foster of Wilkesboro; Uncle Receel Prevette of New Mexico; several nieces, nephews and fur babies.
Memorial service with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard Post 1142 will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at Mountain Valley Baptist Church, North Wilkesboro with Pastor Doug Prevette officiating and Steve Blankenship speaking. The family will receive friends at Mountain Valley Baptist Church from 1-2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilkes South Gideons, P.O.
