Peggy Joyner Moody, 83, of State Road passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Mrs. Moody was born Jan. 26, 1937, to Robert Summerfield Joyner and Jessie Jester Joyner Hinshaw.
Mrs. Moody was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and retired as a teacher’s assistant and bus driver for Wilkes County Schools.
Survivors include her husband, Don Moody of the home; her daughters, Joni Glover and husband, Greg, of Elkin, Toni Jones and friend, Stan Southard, of State Road and Donna Burris and husband, Bryan, of Whitsett; a brother, Robert Joyner of Pleasant Gardens; her grandchildren, Brittany Holbrook and husband, Drew, Hillary Jones and friend, Sheldon Eckrote, Kelby Phillips and friend, Amber Huggins, and Zachary Phillips; her step-grandchildren, Adam Burris and Ethan Burris; her granddog, Briggs; and her special friends, Johnny and Glenda Royall.
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Cook, the Rev. Joe Wood and the Rev. Robbie Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Moody’s viewing will be Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
