Owen Michael Demeny

Owen Michael Demeny

A true light of the Demeny family left us far too early on May 31, 2021. Owen Michael Demeny left this earth after a brief period of declining health, surrounded by his family.

Owen was born on July 22, 1967, in Green Bay, Wisc. He was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School. He attended N.C. State, where he acquired an honors degree in forestry and later a Master’s Degree in Business from Old Dominion University. After many years as the merchandising director at Lowe’s Corporation, Owen partnered with his dear friend, Chad Hendren, to establish Brushy Mountain Home Repair and Remodeling.

During his time in Wilkes County, he coached many little league teams, soccer teams, and the Wilkes Middle School Baseball team with humor and dedication. He was a member of the Brushy Mountain Fire Department.

Owen is survived by his deeply loved children, John Demeny (Mikaylah Dancy, fiancée), Whitley Demeny Minton (Robbie), Anna Rose Demeny, and Jacob Demeny; his grandchildren, Ryder, Myles, Kinsley, and Emery; his parents, Jim and Nancy Demeny of Kannapolis; his brother and best friend, Kevin, and the greatest sister-in-law, Annette of Lincolnton; his nieces, Kayla Demeny Dalton (Isaac), Megan Demeny of Maiden and Ashley Lane of Winston Salem; his nephews, Zachary Lawing and Sam Lawing of Lincolnton. Owen has aunts, uncles and cousins scattered across the entire country. Survivors also include the Hendrens, Robinsons and Laceys of Moravian Falls, who are the truest of friends and neighbors. Owen is also survived by everyone who came into contact with him, as he is a true one-of-a-kind individual.

Owen has been a blessing to all. Like the great oaks the Lord has planted, his entire family will do our best to live out the legacy he has instilled in all of us to love and care deeply without reservation.

A service of remembrance will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, at Big R Orchards Venue, 355 Bethany Church Road, Moravian Falls. An account has been set up for Owen’s beloved children (Jacob, Anna, Whitley and John) and the family respectfully requests that any donations be mailed to Demeny Children, 522 North Laurel Street, Lincolnton, N.C. 28092.

God knows when we leave this earth and Owen has been greeted.
