Nellie Miller Dixon, 95, of Laurel Springs, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at Westwood Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Dixon was born July 17, 1925, in Ashe County to Wyley Gordon and Verna Bell Wingler Miller. She enjoyed reading and working in the garden. Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Benjamin Dixon; sons, Lonnie Mark Dixon, Larry Ray Dixon; daughters, Delphia Marie Dixon; grandson, Tony Roten; brothers, Lenord, Russell, Arvil and Hermon Miller; and sisters, Gladys Barnes, Hazel Patterson and Recca Roten.
Nellie is survived by her daughter, Fylena Dale Roten and spouse, Allen, of Millers Creek; son, Gary Clay Dixon and spouse, Frances, of Laurel Springs; grandsons, Terry Roten of Millers Creek, Scott Roten of Boonville, Jason Roten and spouse, Andrea, of Wilkesboro; great-grandsons, Riley Roten and Jacob Roten, both of Wilkesboro, Chandler Roten of Boonville, Jonah Roten of Wilkesboro; brothers, Donald Miller and spouse, Betty, of Glendale Springs, Bronard Miller and spouse, Temphia, of Laurel Springs; and sister, Myrtle Stanley of Hays.
Graveside service will be private with Jason Roten officiating. Due to COVID-19, Mrs. Dixon will lie-in-state at Miller Funeral Service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021. The family has requested no visitors, no food and no flowers due to COVID-19.
