Marvin Reid Miles, 93, of Hays, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, at his home. Mr. Miles was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Wilkes County to Trealy Andrew and Ava Pendry Miles. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Traphill. He worked with his son since 1985 in his grading business. Mr. Miles loved to hunt, hosting his annual pig pickings, operating his bulldozer and people. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Kathleen McMenamin Miles; son, Jesse Miles Sr.; brothers, Garnis, Albert, John and Claude Miles; and sisters, Fay Shumate and Vernie Miles.
Surviving are his wife, Lillie Spicer Miles of the home; sons, Johnny Miles and spouse, Gwen, of Traphill, Jim Miles and spouse, Wanda, and Mike Miles and spouse, Teresa, all of Hays; daughter-in-law, Belinda Miles of Yadkinville; grandchildren, Jamie Miles, Rebecca Wishon, Alicia Miles, Greta Hayes, Jesse Miles Jr.; step-sons, Michael Spicer and spouse, Rosezetta, of State Road, Mitchell Spicer and spouse, Tammy, of Traphill; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, at Faith Baptist Church in Traphill with Dr. Joe Arthur and Rev. Bud Wishon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
