Marion Allen, 94, of Moravian Falls passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church in the Brushy Mountain community with Rev. Tom Vannoy, Rev. Richard Caudill and Rev. Trent Craven officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard and Masonic rites by Liberty Lodge #45. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Marion was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Crawford County, Ark., to Ernest and Minnie Belle Self Allen. He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a deacon at New Hope Baptist Church, a Mason at Liberty Lodge #45 in Wilkesboro and a lifetime member at Liberty Lodge in Mountainburg, Ark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ruth Anderson Allen; five sisters, Trella Reeves, Flora Beckett, Frances Provence, Jane Parr, Jewel Ray; four brothers, Clarence Allen, Carl Allen, Harold Allen and Howard Allen.
He is survived by three daughters, Donna Allen Poole and husband, John, of Moravian Falls, Helen Allen Craven and husband, Todd, of Wilkesboro, April Allen Jarvis and husband, Jason, of Watkinsville, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Robert Poole and wife, Sarah, Rodney Poole, Emily Poole, Timothy Poole, Rev. Trent Craven, Aeryn Jarvis, Edyn Jarvis; five great-grandchildren, Linxton Poole, Lachlan Poole, Elle Poole, Liam Gibbs Braxton Gibbs.
