Jerry “Lamar” Broome Jr., 60, of Wilkes County went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at his residence. He was born March 20, 1959, in Gaston County to Jerry Lamar Broome Sr. and Juanita Huggins Broome.
Mr. Broome had worked as a crew leader in the oil exploration industry and attended Bible Way Baptist Church in Wilkesboro. He loved his wife and family dearly and was a people person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his cats, “Miss Kitty,” “Little Kitty” and “Bleu.”
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Vickie Bullis Broome of the home; three sons, Jerry Broome III and Kevin Broome, both of Gatesville, Texas, and Adrian Broome of Wilkesboro; his stepmother, Adrianna Broome of Tampa, Fla.; his mother’s companion, Alan Hughes of Denver; two stepdaughters, Sandy Sapp and husband, Jimmie, of New Bern and Brittany Barnes and husband, Flacco, of Greensboro; one brother, Chris Broome and wife, Tammy, of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.; one sister, Sylvia Morris of Denver; two nephews, Sebastian Morris of Stanley and Hayden Broome of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and many, many friends.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Bible Way Baptist Church in Wilkesboro, conducted by Pastor Paul Siceloff and Pastor Richard Blevins.
