Karla Jean Prater, 63, of North Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Michael Brinegar officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Prater was born Feb. 3, 1958, in Marion, Ohio, to Jack Neal and Dorothy Louise Beaver Prater. Karla loved gardening, exercising, swimming and was an avid thriftier. She loved being a great mom and cook, especially fried chicken and biscuits and gravy. She was a member of His Light Ministries of Wilkesboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Carter.
She is survived by two daughters, Serina Bailey and husband, Torey, of Hickory, Amie Weldy of Winston-Salem; one son, Eddie Weldy and wife, April, of King; nine grandchildren, Mya, Eric, Paige, Aaliyah, Brooklyn, Parker, Anthony, Bishop and Arabella and one on the way; one great-grandchild, Xavier, and one on the way; one sister, Cheryl Prater of Germanton; three brothers, Vince Prater and wife, Robin, of Winston-Salem, Jackie Prater of Germanton and Rodney Prater of Walnut Cove; and former husband, Randy Lee Kiger.
