Jurileen Nickelson Davis, 98, of Thurmond passed away Monday morning July 1, 2019, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born June 17, 1921, in Traphill to John Dewey and Daisy Mitchell Nickelson.
In addition to her parents, Jurileen was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Davis; her only child, Alan Craig Davis; and her sister, Christine Nickelson Bell.
Jurileen graduated from Traphill High School. She was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church in Thurmond, where she was active in the choir for many years. Jurileen had a love for music, not only playing the piano, but learning to play a violin later in life. She was an avid antique collector and enjoyed showing her collections in her museum, Stone Mountain Antiques. Jurileen remained very youthful in her 98 years, painting landscapes on canvas, gardening, learning to play golf and delivering many meals to her neighbors and friends.
Jurileen is survived by many friends and a special young man she referred to as her grandson, Mark Daye of Traphill, and her special little dog, Sweetie.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Roaring Gap Baptist Church in Thurmond, with the pastor, Richard Hackler, officiating.
