Judy Taylor Summerlin, 72, of Wilkesboro, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Wilkes Health & Rehab Center. Ms. Summerlin was born Jan. 3, 1950, in North Wilkesboro, Wilkes County to Archie Ray and Ruby Pauline Miller Taylor. Judy was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed shopping with her sisters. Judy retired from Holly Farms/Tyson Foods after 41 years of service, serving from Jan. 9, 1969, to Jan. 9, 2009. She loved children and animals. Ms. Summerlin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Summerlin; son, Terry McGuire; and brother, Kenneth Ray Taylor.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Jamie McGuire and spouse, Sandra, of Purlear; grandchildren, Cassandra McGuire of North Wilkesboro; Dalton McGuire of Hays; sisters, Janice Ward and spouse, Dudley, of Roaring River, Karen Jones and spouse, John L., of Wilkesboro, Sharon Sproles and spouse, Rocky, of Millers Creek; brother, Mark Taylor and spouse, Regina, of Morganton; sister-in-law, Coleen Taylor of Moravian Falls; step-son, Billy Ray Summerlin and spouse, Wanda, of Wilkesboro; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Miller Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brett Graham and Preacher Chris Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Millers Creek. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6-8 Tuesday evening.
