Judy Ann Wayne Ashley, 76, of Wilkesboro, widow of James Martin Ashley Jr. passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Cub Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hefner and Rev. Scotty Roten officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Judy was born May 31, 1945, in Wilkes County to Bronard and Lily Mae Wayne. Judy was a devoted housewife and homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren, as well as helping with many in the community. She was an active member of her church, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed being part of multiple church functions. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, attending school functions and sporting events for her children and grandchildren, and could be easily heard cheering them on! In her later years, she took great pleasure in focusing on raising their youngest grandson, Nicholas, who was the light of the home and “kept them young.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Martin Ashley, Jr., and one daughter, Jamie Ashley Beamon.
Judy is survived by one daughter, Lorie Kerhoulas of Wilkesboro; one son, James Martin Ashley III “Jimmy” of Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, Anna Kerhoulas Lafave and husband, Ethan, Stephen Kerhoulas and fiancé, Clair Colburn, Martin Beamon, Jacob Beamon, and Nicholas Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Emma Lafave, Charlotte Kerhoulas and Addy Billings.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 520 Winkler Mill Rd., Wilkesboro, N.C., 28697.
