Johnnie “Ike” Johnson, 96, of Ronda, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville. Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Wilkes County to Herbert and Bertha Porter Johnson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany after World War II. Ike enjoyed hunting and fishing and put in many miles on the Yadkin River catching catfish. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie Sue Soots Johnson; son, Alvin Dale Johnson; daughter, Nancy Sue Johnson; grandson, Sammy Bullard; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his sons, Joe Johnson and spouse, Gail, of Elkin, John Johnson of Roaring River, Charles Dean Johnson of Ronda; daughters, Jennifer Johnson Brown and spouse, Steve, Katherine Johnson, Lois Ann Johnson, all of Ronda; grandchildren, Jeremy Bullard, Jason Bullard, Benny Bullard, Kelly Doster, Julia Mathis, Chris Johnson and David Johnson; brothers, Jonah Johnson and spouse, Francis, of Hays, Claude Johnson and spouse, Ruby, of Roaring River; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Graveside service with military honors by Veteran of Foreign Wars Honor Guard Post 1142 will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery with Rev. Allen Barker and Rev. Jerry Barker officiating. Mr. Johnson will
lie-in-state at Miller Funeral Service from noon until 1 p.m. on Monday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to SECU Hospice Home, 243 N. Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, N.C., 27055. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
