John Wayne McElveen, 65, of Millers Creek passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
John Wayne was born Aug. 10, 1954, in Hillsborough County, Fla., to John Henry McElveen and Sandra Lois Pritchard Ruebeling.
He was retired from the medical field in Lexington, S.C. John Wayne held a bachelor’s degree in emergency management. He was an all-star high school football quarterback, a Sunday school teacher, a comedian and enjoyed photography as a hobby, in addition to walking and enjoying the Blue Ridge Parkway. He had a strong love for the Lord and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John Wayne is survived by a sister, Terri Testerman and husband, Larry, of Millers Creek; a brother, Steven McElveen of Weirs, Fla.; and three nieces and their families, Dana Summers, Stephanie Testerman and Cassandra Smith.
