Jerry Donald Morrison Jr., 78, of Jacksonville Fla., formerly of Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020, at Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with the Rev. Shannon Critcher and the Rev. Jim Gore officiating. Entombment will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Morrison was born Oct. 4, 1941, in Wilkes County to James D. Morrison and Willie Hester Absher Morrison. Jerry graduated from Wilkes Central High School and attended Pfeiffer College before moving with his family to Florida. Jerry began his career with Winn Dixie, where he worked for 37 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. He loved travel and all sports, playing tennis, racket ball, Jai Alai and was an avid golfer in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Scottie.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Reid Morrison of the home; two sisters, Brenda Adams and Debra Wright and husband, Bill, all of Clarksville, Ga.; a stepsister, Vicki Disantis and husband, Paul, of Pinehurst; a stepbrother, Randy Cooke and wife, Anne, of Owego, N.Y.; two nieces, Kim Smith and Cindy Langley; and three nephews, Houston Rice, William Church and Tim Church.
