Janet Testerman Potts, 80, of Purlear, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020, at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Potts was born July 3, 1940, in Ashe County to Lydia Reece and Clyde Sawyer Testerman. Janet was a member of Cricket Baptist Church but attended Arbor Grove United Methodist Church. Janet was a waitress with Hadley’s Restaurant for many years. She loved bowling, shopping, car racing and watching football. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Franklin Testerman, Hunter Testerman; and sister, Barbara Howell.
Surviving are her husband, Johnny Potts of Purlear; son, Ricky Smith Atwood of Independence, Va.; step-sons, Wayne Potts of Statesville, Donnie Potts of Hickory, Gary Potts and spouse, Gina, of Statesville; brother, Jerry Testerman and wife, Marlene, of Millers Creek; sisters, Jewel Mullis, Mary Ferguson and Margie Stanley, all of Millers Creek, Teresa Fraley and husband, Mike, of Harmony; six step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at Arbor Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Wagoner and Rev. Dr. Susan Pillsbury-Taylor officiating. The body will lie in state from 12:30-1 p.m. Burial will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Flowers will be accepted.
