James Vernon Jarvis, 81, husband of Jane Lenderman Jarvis, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at his home.
A memorial service was held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Tim Pruitt officiating. The family received friends from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mr. Jarvis was born Aug. 16, 1939, in Wilkes County to Vernon Jarvis and Minnie Call Jarvis. He was an ordained deacon, Sunday school teacher and superintendent of Sunday school. He was also a Little League coach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Hendren, and four brothers, Ralph Shew, Lee Shew, Don Jarvis and Rex Jarvis.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Lenderman Jarvis, of the home; two sons, Tony Jarvis and Todd Jarvis, both of Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, Daniel Jarvis and wife, Taylor, Tim Jarvis and wife, Ashley, Sara Bryan and husband, Jared, Brianna Jarvis and Hayeslei Jarvis; and five great-grandchildren, Lilli Jarvis, Kaylee Jarvis, Hadley Jarvis, Harper Jarvis and Holland Bryan.
