James Ronald Brock, better known as Bud or Buddy, 74, of East Brocktown Road, Moravian Falls, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville. Mr. Brock was born June 24, 1946, to Joseph Quentin McKinley Brock and Hazel Vetra Church Brock. He was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and Forsyth Technical Community College. He was a member of Bethel Branch Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and later as Elder. He was also retired from many years of service with Associated Heating and Air Conditioning. He lived in the Brocktown community his entire life.
Bud was always known for his wonderful sense of humor, his giving nature and his strong faith. An avid UNC Tar Heels fan, he was a wonderful husband, father, and Babaw to his four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents and his brother, Dwight Timothy Brock.
Mr. Brock is survived by his wife of 46 years, Penny Billings Brock of the home; his son, Joe Brock and spouse, Matt Kemberling, of Mooresville; his daughter, Jessica Brock Rowe and spouse, Marcus Rowe, of Moravian Falls; his sister, Joyce Brock Johnson and spouse, Jerry Johnson, of North Wilkesboro; his mother-in-law, Betty Billings of North Wilkesboro; his aunt, Iva Johnson of North Wilkesboro; his granddaughters, McKinley Chambers of North Wilkesboro and Sydney Rowe of Moravian Falls; his grandsons, Kenyan Rowe and Canaan Rowe of Moravian Falls; his niece, Sharon Johnson Montecalvo and spouse, Mike Montecalvo, of Lewisville; his nephew, Jeff Johnson and spouse, April Johnson, of North Wilkesboro; his sister-in-law, Deborah Billings Royal and spouse, Jerry Royal, of North Wilkesboro; and numerous cousins and dear friends.
Due to COVID-19, funeral services for Mr. Brock will be private. Mr. Brock will lie in state at Miller Funeral Service from 1-5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 26, 2021. A public celebration of life is planned for Friday, June 24, 2022, at his home. The family hopes all friends and relatives will attend.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Wilkes Dialysis Center for their wonderful care of Bud over these last three years. The family requests no flowers and no food.
